Schoolmaster Echelon
You often find Schoolmasters hanging out in formation under a ledge or structure like in this scene.
I’ve been carrying a camera below the surface since my very first open-water certification dive. (I somehow convinced our instructor, Paula, that I could handle it and our required skills demonstration.)
Schoolmaster Snapper (Lutjanus apodus) are easy to identify, with their long snouts, upper canine teeth, and bright yellow fins and tail.
The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary protects about 2,900 square nautical miles, yet supports about 3 million annual visitors. Disease, heat stress, and human activity have taken their toll yet nearly 6,000 marine species call the coral reefs, mangrove forests, and seagrass meadows home!
This would look great as a metalprint or acrylic print on a dibond backing (16×20” or so).
