Carolina Lilies

The Carolina Lily(Lilium michauxii) is a perennial wildflower and is the Official Wildflower of the State of North Carolina.

It can be found in upland forests, slopes, and ridges in most of the state, along with much of the southeastern U.S., but is rare in the coastal plains.

Its name pays homage to French botanist Andre Michaux, who made several trips to America in the late 1700s to study the flora on the continent.

We encountered this particular bloom on a hike near The Road To Nowhere Tunnel, on the north shore of Lake Fontana in western North Carolina.

This particular image looks great on metal with a float mount. Alternatively, marry this image with others from the Blooms Collection in a Triple Picture Frame Display (8” prints in 14×14” frames shown) or a Triple Collage Frame (6” prints in a 12x24” frame shown).
